UW Update - US Naval Academy Round Robin
The University of Washington squash dawgs started their season on a positive note with two victories and two tight losses at the United States Naval Academy Round Robin held over the Veterans Day weekend.
Last year the UW ended the season ranked #15 of 31 club squash teams and 47 of 64 ranked teams overall (all but one varsity program was ranked ahead of UW). This season’s goal was to move into the top 10 club teams and top-40 overall.

Live scoring launching today!
We're excited to announce the launch of live league scoring for our Seattle Squash League. If you have an Android device, you'll be able to use this tonight. iPhone users will unfortunately have to wait as we are waiting for Apple to finish reviewing the update to the Score Squash app.
Registration Open for Seattle Open 2017
The Seattle Open 2017 will be held at the Seattle Athletic Club in downtown Seattle from January 27th to 29th. The event has been run for many years and is an incredibly enjoyable few days of squash and socialising. Included with your entry fee are refreshments, a t-shirt, social event on Saturday evening, and of course, some great squash!
SSRA Supports Howe Cup Team
The SSRA sent one team this year to the 2016 National Women’s Team Championships, the Howe Cup, the United States’ largest squash event for women and an annual team championship tournament run by US Squash. The Seattle B Team, Eve’s Tough Cookies, was playing in honor of Laura Bachman's (captain) mother who was an inspiration to all squash players, men and women alike.

At the AGM held in October, our long standing President, Greg Menikoff, stepped down as President after many years of valuable service to the SSRA. Greg has been critical during his tenure in promoting squash to the greater Seattle area. He has helped to facilitate countless events, bring in sponsorships to help support SSRA events, manage and coordinate the SSRA board and more generally, being a great ambassador for the sport throughout the region. On behalf of the board, we'd like to thank Greg for his vluable contribution to the sport.
Next Board Meeting
Our next board meeting will take place on November 17th, 7pm at the PRO Club All-Star meeting room. If you're interested in attending, we welcome anyone from the squash playing community to attend.

League Round 1 Complete
Round 1 of the league season kicked off on Tuesday night. This year we have a solid line up with 3 divisions and most clubs in the region competing. This season we are also introducing a new online system, and we're answering a few of the most common queries about this below.

Shabana Khan Receives Brauns Award at U.S. Open
We'd like to extend our congratulations to Shabana Khan on receiving the 2016 Brauns Award at the U.S. Open. This award recognizes an individual with an outstanding contribution to the administration of Squash. Shabana has had an incredible influence on the sport, and in particular, in our region over many decades. This culminated with the World Squash Championships coming to Bellevue last year, which really was an incredible achievement. And she already has her sights on the future, with four big Junior tournaments coming to the region, along with another PSA event next year. Congratulations Shabana!
SSRA Annual General Meeting
The SSRA will hold its Annual General Meeting this Thursday, October 13th at 7PM at the Seattle Athletic Club Downtown. This meeting is open to the public. Please reply to this email if you plan to attend.
League Deadline this Thursday
The league sign up for the 2016/17 is fast approaching. We need to get entries in by this Thursday so that we can get the schedule out and first round underway by around the 17th of October.
Professional Squash Exhibition and Clinic
Some great squash will be played between local squash pro Shah Khan (world #96) and Omar Abdel Meguid (world #28) on June 2nd at the Seattle Athletic Club – Downtown.

Summer Squash Camp at Seattle
This summer the Seattle Athletic Club will be holding a Squash Camp with our World Class professionals Zarak Khan (Former World #8) and Manuela Manetta (Former world #25) but will feature Sports Performance Consultant, Damon Leedale-Brown.
